Posting Your Presentation on "My UEN"

To save a PowerPoint presentation to “My UEN,” follow these steps:

From within PowerPoint on the toolbar:

File, Save As  -- When the dialog box appears, select save as type:  web archive *.mht file

Select Save

Navigate to and logon to your “My UEN” page  http://my.uen.org

Open up Lesson Plan Creation

Select the Instructional tab near the top of the screen

Select Materials on the left hand navigation bar

Select Attachments on the top tab

Type a description in the box directing viewers how to view your presentation, e.g., "click on the link to view a PowerPoint presentation using your Internet Explorer browser."

Use the browse button to navigate to the location of your Powerpoint presentation saved as an *.mht file

Select Add File.  (Depending upon the size of your presentation you may have to wait several seconds for it to upload.  Eventually the white inset screen will go blank and the name of the file will be added to the list of files you have uploaded).

Select Close

To display your presentation:

Select the file name with the *.mht extension to display your presentation.

If you display your presentation on your public “My UEN” page others may view your presentation at the URL for your “My UEN.”

NOTE:  Your presentation saved as a *.mht file can only be viewed using Internet Explorer.  If you upload your presentation as a .ppt file only those with the PowerPoint program or the free PowerPoint viewer can display your presentation.

NOTE regarding Correl Presentations:  According to Brent and Renske, these same general directions should work to upload a Correl Presentations slide show to your "My UEN" page.  Here is a presentation they developed on Utah government using Correl Presentations displayed on both of their "My UEN" pages http://my.uen.org/48029 or http://my.uen.org/48248 . (Note, these are their individual projects and not their inquiry-based projects).

Their advice is as follows:

"For future reference, we found that Presentations 10 has the ability to publish for the Internet in a flash format. However, this option is not availabe in Presentations 9. I did a little experimenting and found that if you save the file as a "Show on the Go", it saves as a self-playing .exe file. While the flash version plays in a frame on the screen, the "Show on the Go" version plays full-screen, and thus the preferred alternative in my opinion."  Make sure the file is saved with the .exe extension or it will not upload.
